OUR CANINE FAMILY
WHO WE ARE ...
We are Philip and Rachel Birt and we are privileged to live in a beautiful part of Dorset with our gundog family.
Our gundogs are a big part of our lives, we live with them, play with them, have fun with them and train them, but above all else, we love them.
We have a passion for all things canine and particularly the working and gun dog breeds. Over the last 40 years we've owned several different breeds including G.S.D.'s, Labradors, and Border Collies. In fact my first dog, a poodle, was bought for me when I was eleven, to cure my fear of dogs!
Currently our canine family consists of our working cocker spaniels, our clumber spaniel, our flat coated retriever and our latest arrival who joined us in May 2014 our lovely border collie....

They are an active bunch and the varied mix of characters means there is very rarely a dull moment in our house and their antics always manage to bring a smile to our faces and brighten the most miserable of days with their enthusiasm for life and having fun.
Our dogs have excellent temperaments and are all well adjusted, healthy and fit for function. They are our loyal, loving companions, and have the benefits of an active life with the luxury of curling up with us in the evening. All our dogs and puppies are fed on the B.A.R.F diet - Biologically Appropriate Raw Food.
We have owned, trained and bred several different working breeds more recently working with those in the gun dog group, concentrating on the working variety of Cocker Spaniel.
Our dogs enjoy a variety of disciplines our favourites being flyball at which we compete with Drummer and Bootie. I am also totally addicted to Talking Dogs Scentwork(R) and am having great fun building our team work skills with Bootie and Rossi and we hope to host some workshops in the early part of 2016.
We encourage their natural working abilities, combining these with steadiness, basic obedience and good manners. All our teaching is force free and based on progressive reinforcement training. Our ethos is to build a fun working relationship centred around trust and mutual understanding.
