Spring is in the air ! well sort of, in between the rain and the snow!
It has been a busy few months here. Our Talking Dogs Scentwork(R) Workshops that we hosted went down a storm and it was a pleasure to play a part in starting so many lovely handlers and dogs on their scentwork journeys. Four Paws Learning & Happy Days Scentwork will be hosting some more workshops towards the end of the year, you can read about those HERE. We have had a lot of emails enquiring about our puppy plans. We essentially only breed one litter a year and generally only when we have a list of people waiting for our puppies, or when we want to keep a puppy for ourselves. Our tentative plans are to have a litter from Bootie towards the end of 2016 (for those on our waiting list). After that we will be taking a short break from breeding for a while to enable us to concentrate on other commitments and promote and pursue our other dog related passions, which of course our dogs will be enjoying with us too! Should we decide to breed in 2017 it will be to keep a puppy from Darceys' last litter. At the moment our waiting list for 2016 is full. It's been a while since we updated our news pages but since the arrival of our lovely Bootie litter we have been busy having lots of fun with our new addition Ayla and doing plenty of noodling on the beach and little walks on the heath, and searching for cheese and catnip mice, exploring in lots of new places and doing loads of other interesting and exciting things to amuse ourselves. We have re vamped our website and are pleased to be officially launching Four Paws Learning and are very excited about our plans for 2016. Talking Dog Scentwork(R) We are very excited to be a part of Talking Dogs Scentwork(R) and I was delighted to pass my Scent 6 Accredited Handler exam and now move onto my next goal as Accredited Trainer. I would like to thank Helen Greenley and Pam Mackinnon for all their help and support since I started my scentwork journey and I am looking forward to assisting both of them throughout this year as part of my ongoing training towards becoming an Accredited Trainer. I can highly recommend this pastime as a brilliant way of building teamwork and a fun relationship with your dog and it is truly addictive! We are hosting some workshops at Sway Village Hall during February, March and April and all of these are now fully booked, so we have more dates lined up for later in the year during September, October and November, we will post news of those dates soon. All our other Scentwork news can be found here. Our Puppy Plans We have had lots of puppy enquiries over the last few months and our intentions are to have a litter from Darcey when she comes into season which will hopefully be towards the end of the summer - things could all change though as sometimes our girls have other ideas! We only have one litter a year so if you are interested in going on our waiting list please contact me. Exciting Other Puppy News! We are delighted to be featuring Badger as standing at stud in Christchurch and even more thrilled to say that he has recently served Rummage and they will hopefully have a little family arriving towards the end of March - we will update with more news once we have confirmation. Badger is is owned by Jenelle and lives in Christchurch so for more details and information on his stud arrangements please contact Jenelle on 07517 127491.

Our charity day this year in aid of Medical Detection Dogs was held in conjunction with our good friend Clare Holmes - Equine & Canine Therapist, who kindly hosted the event at her farm in Sway.
It was a lovely day and the weather was very kind to us. We invited our clients and friends to join us and take part in our 'Have A Go' events which were, a Gundog Scurry and Fastest Retrieve, Fastest Recall Over Hurdles, Flexibility Exercise Circuit, Egg & Spoon Race, Three Legged Race, Best Biscuit Catcher and Searching For Sage Scented Socks. We held a Raffle too and everyone was very generous and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We were also joined on the day by Greg Knight from Rural Shots who held a photo shoot for those who wanted pictures of their dogs. We are delighted to say that all together we raised £325.55 for Medical Detection Dogs. We decided to add our donation to an already existing Just Giving Page of our friends Adam & Samantha Swanson who recently cycled from London To Paris for Medical Detection Dogs too. Thank you to everyone involved especially our helpers and everyone who took part, and we hope to see you again next year! We are pleased to announce we have taken the plunge to launch our new business venture! We have been planning and scheming for over twelve months and just after Easter we were presented with an opportunity that was just too good to miss.
It has been a fast learning curve and we have still a long way to go but we are on target to be doing deliveries by 1st May and properly open for business very soon after that. You can find us on FB and have a look at our website here: Four Paws Pantry |
