What We Do

We have a passion for all things canine and between us we have owned dogs for over forty years. We have a  soft spot for the working and gun dog breeds, and in particular the working variety of cocker spaniels.

Breeding gun dogs is our hobby and for the time being we are taking an indefinite break from having any puppies.

Our dogs are a big part of our lives, we live with them, play with them, have fun with them and train them, but above all else, we love them.

At Raezhaven, all our adult gun dogs have excellent sound temperaments, good working ability and are fully health tested. All these qualities are of equal importance.

Our Aim

Picture
When we do breed OUR AIM is to produce healthy, well adjusted puppies, that are capable of becoming excellent companion dogs or active/working family members.

All our puppies are born and raised in our home, and both mum and pups receive constant care and attention and are constantly monitored during the important early days. We endeavour to shape and nurture happy, bold and confident puppies that are a reflection of the time and effort put into their early developmental stages.
To provide early sensory and neurological stimulation, our puppies are handled from birth, observed for long periods of time and interacted with frequently throughout the day. During the period from birth to 8 weeks our puppies are moved regularly within the house to get them used to change.
They are introduced to different surfaces and sensations as early as 3 days old. Their development is monitored daily and all interactions are mindfully and respectfully carried out to ensure that all the earliest experiences are gentle and positive.  From 4 weeks of age we have regular visitors of all ages, shapes and sizes and the puppies are carefully exposed to all the normal sights and sounds associated with a busy household, that they are likely to encounter throughout their adult lives.

Our puppies are taken out in the van for short journeys to give them a taste of travelling and in the latter weeks they are introduced to the outside. They learn to live alongside our adult dogs in a safe environment and as such learn good communication skills not only from their mother but from our other dogs too.

Our puppies become an integral part of our daily lives for 8 weeks and we invest our time and energy to ensure that all their experiences are pleasant and positive and that they are played with, loved and cared for and socialised as much as possible. We endeavour to lay good foundations in the skills they will need to start their new lives with their prospective new owners.

We feed a species appropriate diet (Biologically Appropriate Raw Food) to all  our dogs and our puppies are no exception. They are weaned onto Nutriment Weaning Formula and progress onto Nutriment Puppy Formula when they reach about 5 weeks of age.

All our puppies come with full documentation including Kennel Club Registration, Contract of Sale, a Five Generation Pedigree and four weeks puppy insurance via The Kennel Club Healthcare Plan. We also provide a Diet Sheet, advice on Early Training and Socialisation and provide full after care help and advice.

Our Committment

We then try to carefully select the right forever homes, and place our puppies where they will receive the best possible care, and in turn,  will bring a lifetime of pleasure, loyalty and affection to each person in the family.

We promote our puppies as excellant companion dogs with the potential to excel in most disciplines. As there are so many puppies in rescue, and not all people breed responsibly,  to protect our puppies, and the future health and welfare of the breed, all our puppies are endorsed and sold with a Sales Contract.

Should you be intending to breed from your puppy purchased from us then please be sure and mention this, so we can ensure you have read and understood the Sales Contract. We are more than happy to email the contract in advance for you.

We take the responsibility of rearing a litter of puppies very seriously and have built our reputation over the last twenty three years. Laying the foundations for their future growth and development is a privilege and pleasure and we are invested in the rest of their lives. We are available for help and advice at any time but if your circumstances change and you are unable to give your puppy/dog the time and care they need then we expect them to be returned to us and we will do whatever is necessary to ensure they are loved and settled.
